It's hard to believe that October is actually coming to a close! Has anyone seen the glorious full moon? Even last night the moon is still glowing in the sky. I could look out the sky light in our bathroom and see stars and the moon. It was such a pretty clear night.
I caught these silly dogs, in diguise and howling at the moon like wolf-wanna-be's...LOL Well, not really but I couldn't resist how adorable they look.

Yup, the weekend is over with a fresh week begun. Today is dedicated to cleaning. I had a lousy weekend (you don't want to hear about it, trust me!) and nothing got done. I usually go out to be with friends but that's been cancelled, so here I sit in my PJ's, after cleaning and scrubbing. I need a shower now :P
This will be a very fun week for kids and parents alike. Going to a Halloween party, going door to door Trick or Treating, digging thru your Kid's candy stash to find all your favorites, or just hanging out home watching scary movies, is what most plan to do on Wed. I'll be one sitting at home, watching movies and waiting for my grandkids to come knocking on my door. Usually I go over to the church to help with the program and tons of treats handed out to all in the community who look forward to games and a horse trough loaded with all sorts of candy. Not this year.
Enjoy this upcoming week.

We are never to old to enjoy having our parents come over and awwww and ohhhh over family pictures and rave about a simple lunch. To top it off with a little dessert....well, that calls for extra hugs. It's really not a big thing for me to prepare for them and I love soaking up the time with Dad & Mom. Dad's memory is totally going but he can be SO sweet.....he thought today was my Birthday because they brought me fresh flowers...too funny! But he hugged me to wish me a Happy Birthday(again!) and his hugs are so big.

Yes, they really are! I once read that women NEED interaction with other women and back in the day, there was an easy comradeship to small villages. Families lived within walking distance and work-bees were what got the big canning, cooking, chicken-plucking, quilting, etc. jobs accomplished. It's wonderful to have all these modern appliances, cars, etc. but that means there are greater distances and we suffer the emotional deprivation of close family and friends. That's why I treasure each get together with the girls. It really does turn out to be cheaper than going to a therapist :)

It's a good thing I have a sense of humor. I know as we age there are just some body parts that start to fail us :P My friend seemed to think that a Birthday Party is an appropriate place to remind me of that.....hence her bag of goodies to me....Oil of Delay, Coke-bottle glasses, Pills to cool those hot flashes and extra body parts to replace those that poop out. Nice! But did she have to laugh quite that hard when I tried on the glasses to read the food menu??

I was asked today if I minded turning a year older and if I still like celebrating Birthdays....uh, yeah!! Hey, my way of thinking is that I'd like to take advantage of every and all excuses to celebrate....period! :) A girlfriend of mine has arranged a little girl's get together this evening at Boston Pizza to celebrate my Birthday......I'm in!! We seem to need an excuse for get togethers these days, since we're all so darn busy, so bring it on!

I looked out the window this morning and found that something strange had happened out there. I think maybe Halloween came early cuz this is sure spooky. Everything had this white fuzzy stuff stuck to it and it was all foggy. It was still before sun rise and when I ran to the front window, an orange glow made my spine tingle....THEN....I remembered that today is NOT Halloween and the orange glow came from the street light.....the white furry stuff was hoar frost. Yup, I'm back home in the North!! :)

I absolutely had a great time but it's just so nice to be home. We left Abbotsford at 4:00pm finally and got home at 6:00 this morning *yawn* George is back to work tonight and I'll have to admit it isn't me.....I'm way too bagged!!
We enjoyed celebrating our 31st Anniversary and my Birthday with Jenny's parents, who celebrated their 34th Anniversary and Debbie's Birthday. Cool that both of us have been married in October, on Thanksgiving weekend and both Debbie & I were born in October :)
The fall colors were awesome and we enjoyed the lovely warm weather.Oh, I must mention that Jenny is wearing her family's Tartan she bought in Ireland on their Honeymoon.

So, why is it that I never learn to be patient?? If my patience has been tested a gazillion times, why haven't I learned it and finally have peace of mind without feeling that impatience over and over?? Well, whatever!! We drove down south to buy tires for G's truck....turns out they are far cheaper buying them here but since it seems like everyone else and their dog needs winter tires right now, there was a delay...umpf! Then I got us all packed and ready to go yesterday mid-aft only to find out that before putting the tires on the truck they checked the brakes....yup, need new ones....so much so that they wouldn't allow the truck to leave the yard....all I can say is that I'm grateful we didn't discover this going down a steep hill in the canyon...whew!
Yesterday was also my Birthday so I got to celebrate it with Colin, Jenny and Jackson as well. Fun!!
Happy Birthday to Rachel today.....have a great day sis!!
So, here's hoping we get to chat again on Fri., when I'm home again.

Well, I suppose life wouldn't be the same without spontaneity....it adds spice to an otherwise routine life. So, George needs new tires, which for his work truck is very expensive, after all, they aren't called "Mudders" for nothing. After calling around he found out he can get them FAR cheaper down south, even with the fuel factored in. He didn't have work until Fri. for starters but found out they couldn't be put on until Mon. After calling work to get a better idea if that job for Fri. is secure, they told him to go do what he has to and there's work on Tues.
Bonus!! So, we're more than happy to have a bit of a break.
Talk to you on Tues.

I'm stuffed! Good food....turkey, ham and all the trimmings. Then dessert....pumpkin pie, pumpkin cheese cake....oh the delectable joy!
And our newest family member came and we could cuddle and dote over her.....what a sweet little girl!

Once again it's a very lovely, sunny fall day. I woke up to birds celebrating the gorgeous day. They are singing and chirping, spreading the message that there are still lots of fall berries to be had and sunflower seeds for the picking, grain that the farmer's have dropped behind in the fields. I'm reminded that we are told from scrips of long ago days, to take note of the little birds.....they live for the day and do not worry about tomorrow. Can it be that life can be that simple?? As I lay in bed just taking a moment to listen to their calls to each other,I knew I would be as happy as they if I took that lesson to heart. Just something to ponder on today.

Wow.....October has arrived!!! I've been saying how I hate the transition from summer to fall, but find that once we're into the fall season the crisp, sunny days are SO amazing! This is also the month I was born and we were married in. I was still a young girl of 19 when we got married (I know...INSANE!!)and six days later I turned 20. I felt like an "old" soul though, when we got married since I had such a lot of responsibilities at home. I was ready.....ya right!
Anyhow, this week we have Thanksgiving to look forward to. I got a call from my niece last night, who is planning the family Thanksgiving dinner. Each family unit contributes to the dinner. Since we're a rather large group, the dinner is held in the dining hall of my parent's church, but it's always a big affair and is nice to have the space for the kids to play in. Pictionary is the game we play, since all can participate and the guys vs. gals makes for a very boisterous, fun time.
I was particularly happy to wake up to brilliant sunshine this morning. It's just what the "Doc" ordered to help lift my sad heart. A good beginning to a new week and a new month :)
