An Afternoon of Friendship

I had a delightful afternoon yesterday. I love summer for many reasons, but I think one of my favorite things is the fresh produce and fruit available. Not many fruits grow this far north, so there is a truck that comes up from the Okanagan(central BC) to sell fruit ripened on the vine or trees. One fruit that grows very well here though is the Saskatoon Berry. So, that brings me to yesterday....a group of us gals meet together once a week throughout the fall and winter, but in the summer everyone does their own thing. We got together yesterday for a pot-luck lunch. Oh the delight to our tastebuds. Salads made with garden or greenhouse(we need to grow our tomatoes in a greenhouse because you just never know when a frosty night might hit) produce and then the most yummy Saskatoon/blueberry pie for dessert...oh my, we were in heaven. The gal's home we met at lives on an acreage out of town and she has bushes and bushes of Saskatoon berries. Needless to say, it was a culinary feast as well as a social feast.

To the soul, there is hardly anything more healing than friendship
