After Two Years.....

......we still miss you Son!
" My Son"
She drove away that morning too many thoughts in her head.
She should have waited just a little longer and said,
"I love you" one last time.
A knock at the door confirmed her worst fears,
The words a mother should never have to hear, a shock
Too great for tears.
Inside her head she cries out these words

I love you my son, my little boy.
I miss you my son, you gave me so much joy.
I love you my son, my precious gift.
I miss you my son, you were the reason I lived.

Surrounded by family and friends, she still feels all alone.
Each time the door opens, she expects him to be home.
Hours drag by, the night brings tortured dreams, seeing
His face, calling his name.
She lights the candle on the table when that morning came.
Greets sad faces and listens to the words that are gave.
She kisses him for the last time, says goodbye, and lays him
In his grave.
She holds his cold hand and whispers these words.

I love you my son, my little boy.
I miss you my son, you gave me so much joy.
I love you my son, my precious gift.
I miss you my son, you were the reason I lived.

The pictures stare back at her from the walls.
The last spoken words echo in the halls.
His 25 years was such a short time here.
She holds on tight to each memory so dear.
She closes her eyes and prays these words.

I love you my son, my little boy.
I miss you my son, you gave me so much joy.
I love you my son, my precious gift.

Her nights still filled with dreams and tears.
Her eyes searching for something far away.
I love you my son, my little boy.
I've missed you my son, you give me so much joy.
I love you my son, my precious gift.
I've missed you my son, you are the reason I LIVE. by Rhonda Erickson

TV and the News

I'll admit that I'm not a huge "News" buff, nor do I seem to be able to make much sense of Politics, the Economy or Wall Street. I DO however know that there is an Economic crisis happening in the U.S. market. I found this posting on my Hubby's blog, to be of interest and made some valid observations.
On a far different note and one that I am far more interested in, is the beginning of a new Season on TV. I know...very shallow of me, but what can I say? I have my fav Reality shows and also like to go visit those gals on Wisteria Lane...AKA, the Desperate Housewives.
So, enjoy the last of your weekend.

Home Sweet Home

It is so great to be home. Of course, it was a very long drive (14 hours) but it was nice to move these stiff bones about again. We unloaded the car and I got a lot of the stuff put away and Hubby's work stuff all packed up again for him to leave for camp. Instead of leaving early this morning, his job got postponed until Monday, so we can rest up well. I got the laundry prepossessed and am just sitting down to another fresh cup of coffee.
Enjoy your weekend! I know I will :)

20 Little things to Treasure in Autumn

Come sit with me while I tell you the reasons I love fall. Tam over at Gypsy's Corner has encouraged all of us to list '20 Little Things To Treasure in Autumn'.For me that list includes:
1)Crisp, cooler weather.
2)the pungent smell of wood smoke in the air.
3) Going for a drive in the country to see the gorgeous colored leaves.
4)Sipping a pumpkin Latte
5)The warmth of the fireplace to chase away the chill of evening.
6)Snuggling under a soft, cozy fleece blanket.
7)Hearing the happy voices of kids playing in the school playground.
8)Decorating my home with the rich fall colors.
9)Apple pie and Apple Cinnamon Crumble.
10)Reading a good book on a rainy, chill day.
11)A hearty stew filled with fresh root veggies.
12)Corn Roast with friends.
13) The smell of mown hay.
14)Pumpkin pie shared with family and friends.
15)Watching the v-shaped line of Canada Geese flying south and hearing their cheerful honks greeting us as they fly over-head.
16)Raking a pile of leaves together and watching the kids playing in them and trowing leaves up in the air in sheer delight.
17)Anew line-up of fall programs on TV.(Survivor begins tonight...yay!!)
18)The romantic glow of candle light in the dark evenings.
20)Candy corn, candy apple, caramel popcorn.

I am spending this week in the Lower Mainland of B.C. Besides taking care of some medical issues with my M-I-L and being supportive to our son, who is going through a crisis in his life....I have taken time to go shopping. I found oil paints and supplies for far cheaper here in the big city. I could drop hundreds of dollars just in Micheal's alone!!
I also went into this most amazing gift store and reigned in my impulse to buy some amazing pieces of pottery, candles and unique knick-knacks....all in warm, rich Autumn hues. I limited myself to buying an incredible bronzed apple and a simple, clear blown glass pear. I can't wait to get home and arrange them. I'll take pics then.
And what better way to spend a cool, rainy fall day than to stop by Starbucks for a pumpkin Latte?? Mmmmm!

I've been contemplating on some very deep thoughts. Why, oh why, does it seem as if all the twists, turns and curve balls come at us in a volley hitting us one ball after another after another??
Are we psychologically it that the "thing we fear has come upon us"...can we change what comes our way???
And if we have no control over certain things, how do we not feel like we're "picked on" by God?? I'm contemplating and if any of my Blogger friends have a good answer to my queries, by all means voice it.
So for now, I'm going to watch a movie to distract me from the cycle of these thoughts :P

Fall Weekend

Here we have arrived at Friday already and looking forward to the weekend. I'm excited because my Hubby, who is working night shift at a Drilling Rig and stays away at camp, is coming home on Sunday. He's taking 5 days off. Here is a video clip he took.(if this does not show as a video, just click on the little box in the bottom left-hand corner.)
We have been basking in this gorgeous, sunny warm fall weather. I know technically it's not fall yet, but we live in N.E. British Columbia, so we're full into the beauty of yellow, gold and red leaves, with many smaller trees and bushes already shedding their leaves. Summer, Fall and spring are short seasons, with Winter being 7-8 months long, so I make it a point to enjoy as many outdoorsy days as possible.
Enjoy the Golden days of fall this weekend :)

No more crackle, fizz...

Our old cordless phone kicked the bucket so I went out and bought one that was far superior to the old one, with far less interference. One thing I hated about the last one was all the crackle and fizz that kept coming across and was even worse in certain areas of the house. Now to add all the phonebook numbers again :P
So, that's what passes as excitement in our home...pretty lame, hey? LOL!

Thanksgiving Wedding

I just spent far too long booking flights for my parents online, who want to fly out to Toronto, Ontario for my Nephew's Thanksgiving(Oct. 11) wedding. It took extra long since Mom told me to book it on their Visa, when in truth it's a Master Card...that makes a difference apparently *drips with sarcasm*
Anyhow,I know they will have a great time, since both parents still have sibs living there as well as my brother and his family.
They will have gone and returned again before I fly out to Manitoba. Fun, fun!!

"Worry is interest paid on the debt you never owed" if that doesn't just make a point??!!
And worry exacts very high interest...emotionally, physically and spiritually. Why is it then that we allow Worry to demand such a high price??

It's the most fulfilling calling, yet one that requires long term commitment that brings out the best in us AND the worst in us. Parenting is a "learn-as-you-go" experience, that we may or may not get right in the first try.
I want to direct you to my Husband's Blog to get a Dad's perspective on's a welcome angle to look at :)

A day in American history that will never be forgotten! A day we also mourn, for they are our Neighbors. A day that forever changed our World!
